ABOUT US

Matthew Abendroth, DO
Founder of Forecast Precision Medicine | Concierge Healthspan Physician

Dr. Matthew Abendroth is a quadruple board-certified physician in Family Medicine, Lifestyle Medicine, Integrative Medicine, and Functional Medicine. As the founder of Forecast Precision Medicine, he combines advanced training with a deep commitment to helping each patient achieve exceptional health, performance, and longevity through cutting-edge, personalized care.

Born and raised in Urbandale, Dr. Abendroth completed his undergraduate studies in Biology and Agriculture in Washington State before returning to Iowa for medical school at Des Moines University. He went on to complete his Family Medicine residency at Iowa Lutheran Hospital, then practiced full-spectrum family medicine at UnityPoint Clinic in Urbandale while also working in rural, critical access emergency departments across Iowa.

Over time, he grew increasingly disillusioned with the limitations of conventional "sick care"—a system designed for reactive treatment but poorly equipped to promote health or prevent disease. He began pursuing additional training and became board certified in Lifestyle Medicine through the American Board of Lifestyle Medicine.

In 2020, he left conventional outpatient medicine to open Sana Vita Health, a concierge clinic that addressed many of the time and access constraints of the traditional insurance-based model. Despite the benefits of extended visits and personalized care, he found that true health optimization still required more—specifically, access to advanced diagnostics and the freedom to integrate a wider range of therapeutic tools.

To fully focus on this next chapter, Dr. Abendroth closed Sana Vita and embarked on an educational sabbatical while continuing emergency medicine work across Iowa. He went on to complete fellowships in both Integrative Medicine (through the University of Arizona) and Functional Medicine (through The Institute for Functional Medicine), earning board certification in both. He is currently a fellow of the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine.

In 2024, Dr. Abendroth founded Forecast Precision Medicine—a concierge healthspan clinic delivering proactive, preventive, and highly personalized care focused on optimizing long-term health and extending functional longevity. From early insulin resistance and fatty liver disease to low bone density and even asymptomatic cancers, Forecast uses advanced diagnostic technologies and in-depth testing—often unavailable in conventional settings—to detect dysfunction and disease at the earliest, most reversible stages.
When issues are identified—whether subtle or overt—Dr. Abendroth works with patients to design tailored, multifaceted intervention plans. These may include personalized nutrition, targeted exercise programming, sleep and stress optimization, hormone replacement therapy, selective use of pharmaceuticals and supplements, and close outcome tracking to ensure measurable progress and meaningful results.

His dedication to precision medicine became personal when he uncovered his own diagnosis of severe osteoporosis at age 39, discovered through his own Precision Health Assessment at Forecast. This experience deepened his conviction in the power of comprehensive testing and reinforced his commitment to helping others uncover and address hidden drivers of disease—before they become life-altering.

When he’s not in the clinic, Dr. Abendroth enjoys time with his family, playing tennis with his wife, strength training, and indulging his passion for sports cars—especially those with manual transmissions, which, like his medical practice, favor precision, performance, and a more connected experience.
